The FIRE movement has been ever increasing rooted from the 1992 best-selling book Your Money or Your Life. by Vicki Robin and Joe Dominguez.

The movement has been taking off since being introduced into chat forums in the early 2010s, with the premise that "Freedom 55" is closer to "Freedom 40".

This has introduced a litany of new financial planning muscles to flex, including challenging old savings paradigms, concerns around longevity planning and a larger focus required on 'what if' contingency planning.
